The word ‘fear’ is not fear. But for most of us, the word has become important, not only with regard to fear but with regard to God, with regard to sex, with regard to communism – with regard to everything. Words and symbols have become important and not the fact, which means the mind is slave to words. You are slave to the word ‘communism’, or ‘Congress’, or ‘Hindu’, ‘Buddhist’ or ‘Muslim’. So if you would understand fear, the mind must be free of the word, because the word contains condemnation. Therefore, you cannot approach the fact if the mind is slave to words.
