To remain with the fact means no movement, no desire to change, no desire for further happiness and all the rest of it – just to hold the fact. That very retention changes the fact. It is not brought about by volition, by hope – nothing. It just says, ‘I am hurt,’ and the very perception of it changes it, brings about a mutation of the fact.
